Hey all,

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! Grace Church is in great shape during the pandemic, and the resulting fallout, because of all that you do to support the full life of your parish! You love Grace Church. It is humbling to serve a parish where the members truly love their church. So, in case you were wondering how Grace is doing, we are in good shape, the staff is all still here, and all still paid, including Kate and Kaitlyn our nursery workers. That is something to be proud of. Again, thank you.

As I write this, Bishop Waldo, has extended the closing of public liturgies until May 15th. I expect that will be extended yet again. I imagine in June some smaller gatherings will be allowed and we’ll work with that when it comes. So, for now, we continue with the online liturgies.

Thank you to John Woodson for making Sunday morning liturgies available to so many. Thank you also to Joey Opperman and Cory Trotter for making week day Evening Prayer available and to Jerrad Fenske who has joined them with a sung musical Evening Prayer on Wednesdays. And then there is Bryan Harris and his online bible study, thanks. And Lee Hancock, our Senior Warden, for keeping the vestry connected, and for walking us through the Zoom phenomenon. Thanks Lee. I’m going to start calling my computer a zoomaphone.

Thanks for all the prayers from everyone, especially Sara Cheek and the women’s prayer group. And Tommy Watson, the parish intern! Thanks for figuring things out as they go! The Neighborhood Garden is plowed and planted! A virtual, socially distanced group hug goes out to Lawrence Campbell, Lawrence and Matthew McMillan, and Lyn Merchant.

We are still making sandwiches the five Saturdays in May for the Soup Kitchen, with an ingenious logistical plan, making sandwiches in homes then dropping them off to be assembled into bags. Thanks Suzanne Curlis and Deacon Mary for coming through on this. Contact Suzanne if you can help.

The life and ministry of being Church continues, especially in times like these, even as Burials, Baptisms and Weddings have all been put on hold as we all wait. So much of life is about waiting. And so much of life is about giving and showing thanks. Just don’t wait to say thank you! Thanks for not waiting! Lift up your hearts!

Fr. Jack
